About damn time. Terrible pun aside, this is a real significant moment for a brand as historic and steeped in legacy as Maison Cartier. This month, the brand will start by including five styles from its fine watch range on Mr Porter and Net-A-Porter.

This follows a successful first toe dip earlier this year when the brand partnered with Mr Porter on a campaign to promote the newly-relaunched Santos watches. The Santos enjoyed a relaunch at the year's SIHH horological convention, reinventing and reviving a style born in 1904 – more than a century ago that still endures thanks in large part to the strength of its classic design and its pioneering story.

For the women, this joins an already wide range of Cartier fine jewellery already available on Net-A-Porter. The luxury e-commerce giant is expanding the online shopping experience and offering same-day deliveries, try before you buy, and hand-delivered services for safety and security. Everything, in other words, is in place to make sure your (likely very expensive) purchase gets to you without a hitch.

Both sites, for one, has a team of dedicated personal shoppers who can reserve key pieces, organise private viewings, and even place orders for bespoke pieces. And if you live in London, New York, or Hong Kong, you’ll even be able to enjoy same-day delivery. It’s like Amazon prime but with a nice red box.

As for the watches themselves, the house of Cartier is bringing on board its most iconic designs: the Tank, Santos, Ballon Bleu, Drive and Calibre on Mr Porter; and the Panthère, Tank, Ballon Bleu, and Baignoire on Net-A-Porter. One for everyone - now just a click or two away.

Cartier fine watches will be available globally from Mr Porter and Net-A-Porter starting 29 August 2018.
